Microsoft Canada ha realizzato un software denominato Child Exploitation Tracking System che promette di aiutare le forze dell’ordine a catturare i trafficanti di pornografia minorile. L’annuncio afferma che il programma in questione è Open Source, ma non dice sotto quale licenza è rilasciato.

Questo articolo su ITworld riporta una dichiarazione del presidente di M$ Canada che dimostra come sia sempre il solito FUD. Trattandosi, in ultima analisi, di un software che facilita il data mining su dati raccolti in rete, è facile pensar male e ritenere che questo programma possa essere usato per scopi assai meno nobili di quelli dichiarati, da qui la volontà di mantenere la segretezza.

We’re intentionally coy about the technology that is used in this because we think it gives the good guys an advantage over the bad guys, he said.
